Taking Loose Parts Play Outside

Makerspace Friday!

Makerspace at Andrew Sibbald is a creative, hands-on learning time where students can explore, build, invent, and learn through doing.

One or two Fridays a month our students will:

-design and build projects

-solve real world problems

-explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM)

-work together to bring their ideas to life

Last week our Div I students took Makerspace outside to explore a variety of materials in the Learning Grounds. Taking our Loose Parts Play outside!

Students explored:

-big blue building blocks

-dinosaur play

-outdoor exploration investigation with binoculars and magnifying glasses

-large and small marble runs

-a weaving loom with fabric

-Connect Four games

Navigating these open-ended stations gave students the opportunity to problem solve, work cooperatively, and use their imagination. Ask your student what they explored during Makerspace, and what they noticed about taking it outside.

We are looking forward to share Makerspace time with Div II students next week.
